Issues: Civil Liberties and Civil Rights Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity

No American should be treated differently because of who they love. I support full federal equality for LGBT Americans because gay rights are human rights. As your Congressman, I will support legislation that:

Protects the Equality Act to expand Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to make workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity illegal under federal law.
Stem the staggering rate of suicide among LGBTQ youth by taking on bullying and harassment in schools and on social media.
Preserves Marriage Equality and defends LGBTQ rights against legislation that attempts to legalize discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Allows transgender Americans to self-identify their gender on documents, ensure that access to facilities is non-discriminatory
Overturns efforts to ban transgender soldiers from the military.
